I remember hearing at a show once that women who rap are scarce -- not because they don't exist, i's all the BS and politics around it.
Hazel Rose is another in a long line of stellar women from Bay Area rap scene, toting a particularly electronic-tinged sound. Her first single from her debut album is "Dalai Lama," a pleasant mixture of booming bass and bay flavor with just a touch of hipster irony.
Here's what the label has to say about the track:
"Dalai Lama" is the first single from Hazel Rose's debut album The Seed. The song is about striving to stay on a high vibration no matter what obstacles come up in life. The song introduces the mission statement of The Seed: drawing attention to the unseen and spiritual realms that inform what manifests in our physical world. The song is produced by Yung Cutt-E of BQM, and the music video directed by TJ Clemena is coming soon."
