Haarm's "Foxglove" grabbed me with its bassline, furrowed my brow, and kicked my head bobbing reflex into overdrive when I heard it for the first time recently. It's no wonder it has made appearances on the likes of BBC Radio 1, Radio X, and KEXP since its emergence as the new Liverpool band's first official release a few short months ago.
I'm also an absolute sucker for male/female duet vocals in any context, so this one just has all of the ingredients for me personally, but I truly think these guys are flashing us a world-dominating sound. If you're going to throw yourself into the ruthless modern realm of voracious internet music hawkers with a debut single, this is the way to do it.
A dark pop body with bright touches of wiry synths make well-juxtaposed lyrics like "A little more sunshine when we're done / It looks a lot brighter on your side of town " that much cooler. Layers and layers of good stuff happening here.
Apparently they're working on new tunes as we speak, so make sure you stay tuned.
