Newcastle-based five-piece Goldsmith announced themselves on the scene earlier this year with the ridiculously catchy single, "Backbone." Describing themselves as purveyors of vintage-pop, Donnie Goldsmith and friends are back with a brand new track, "Care," which comes complete with a vintage-styled film clip (see below).
I was sent this track from as a private link a few weeks back, and I've been listening to it ever since -- at least every couple of days. It's got those lush, layered soundscapes we enjoyed on "Backbone," but they've upped the tempo slightly with a driving bass line pushing the track along at a decent pace. I find on occasion that some band's vocals don't fit with the music, but in Donnie Goldsmith's case nothing could be further from the truth -- it's a perfect match.
With an EP in the works (due out in March next year) and plans to branch out overseas, Goldsmith is a name you can be sure you'll be hearing more from.
