We all know. There's something in us that creaks under the strain to get out, to explore, to traverse land, and find something beyond ourselves. And right at home, before we've even left, there's a part of us that knows that what we truly seek is closer than the air around us.
In isolation, or in a crowd, our innate wisdom is simply there. At the same time, on the other end of the spectrum we find our desires, and to deny them is near impossible. We each have a beast within that enjoys the indulgence, the chaos, the riots, the mess, and the distraction. Oftentimes, the beast holds more fun than the winds of wisdom — it's more enticing to ravage the forest than to whistle through the branches unscathed. Or perhaps, when the beast sleeps and the wisdom is hushed, they are one and the same .
Godford's "The Beast" is about being locked up for too long, starting to feel a bit out of control, and the beast that is sleeping inside wanting to escape, sometimes blowing up. It's an attention-grabbing track that leaves us wanting more, perhaps enticing the beast on purpose.
Godford is an anonymous producer who has received praise from MixMag, Complex, Forbes, Fader, and more. “The Beast” follows their latest single “California, Pt. 1.”
