Why do we like this?
Uploaded to Florence + the Machine's Youtube channel about 2 years ago, this remix of "Cosmic Love" by Short Club is one that I'm surprised hasn't surfaced on Indie Shuffle somehow. We have covered Flo remixes from the likes of The Weeknd, Clams Casino, Seven Lions, and Yeasayer, but never has one really captured the club kid in me as much as this one has.
While it takes about two minutes for the song to finally take off, once it gets going your ears are sent into another dimension of club rhythms and Phoenix-esque backbeats. At about three and a half minutes you're spun into a web of laser crescendos until Florence brings you back to reality with her softly sung melodies and angel-like whimsies.
Being an utter Florence + The Machine enthusiast, I realize that nothing can compare to the original. But looking beyond that, I give you a remix that is definitely worth having a listen, or two, or five. Enjoy.
