Fever Ray has been wooing us with her adorable and incredibly versatile voice for almost a decade now. She began her commercial career as guitarist and lead vocalist for alt-rockers Honey is Cool before gaining much noteriety as one half of the explosive (and similarly versatile) electronic duo The Knife. Last year, Fever Ray released her self-titled solo debut to great critical acclaim. But that isn't much Fever Ray's style. Notoriously critical of the mainstream music scene and the media, Fever Ray and brother Olof Dreijer (second half of The Knife) wear masks for public appearances and for most anything publicity-related, have boycotted award ceremonies (including by sending two representatives wearing gorilla costumes to represent the male dominance of the music industry), and had even refused to play live performances until quite recently.
Despite her attitudes towards and relations with the mainstream music industry, the internet music industry has welcomed her with open arms, with artists covering and remixing her work as soon as it is released, if not before. Here are a few of our favorites that we've collected over the past few months. Enjoy! - The New Montreal
