Way back in March a buddy sent me an email about a crowd-funded festival in Croatia that his friend was trying to organize. The theme was Goulash Disko, and an island in the middle of the Adriatic Sea seemed like the perfect setting. But would a few hundred people really wanted to pack up their bags and travel all the way to Croatia?
The answer was overwhelmingly "yes."
Straddled across five days (from September 3rd until September 7th), the first ever Goulash Disko proceeded with resounding success. From noon until 6am every day a myriad of DJs played their hearts content, sampling drum and bass, gypsy beats and a whole lot of Balkan music.
The end result was one of the more exhausting festivals I've ever attended -- quite a feat considering half my time was spent lying on the beach :)
Will there be another event next year? Well that remains to be seen. If your curiosity is piqued, you can
keep up-to-date here.
