While we've featured a number of their members before, we have yet to bring you a track from Melbourne band Eagle and the Worm. Until now.
Despite splitting off into acts like New Gods, Saskwatch, and Dorsal Fins, the hard working seven-piece has become a consistent source of enjoyment since their formation back in 2009. Because of their busy schedules however, we've had to wait patiently for a follow-up to their 2010 record, Good Times (they also released an EP in late 2012), and the band recently detailed news of their sophmore album coming out later this year.
Given their eclectic make-up, you expect their music to be pretty varied in the best possible way. The first single from the upcoming album is "Automatic," a very easy track to fall for. Given its heavy dub focus and horn section, there's a definite 90s feel to it, but there's just something ridiculously fun about the song which I'm currently finding very difficult to describe. Just trust me on this one.
If you're new to the Eagle and the Worm fanclub, make sure to visit their SoundCloud to check out some of their previous releases. Hopefully this will keep you busy till their new album drops.
