Why do we like this?

Santa Barbara trio Dropout's newest single has been out for about seven days and reached nearly 50,000 streams on SoundCloud. It's pretty safe to say that a huge chunk of those have come from me. I've listened to this song repetitively trying to figure out what genre it truly is.

After playing this track a lot, I've realized something that should have been obvious: the lack of genre is clearly what makes this song so good. In a day in age where dance music has the shelf life of an open bag of potato chips, having a unique and addictively fun record likes this is rare.
