New Orleans has been a hot-bed of hip-hop creativity over the years. The diversity of artists ranges from Master P through to Lil Wayne, with the city adding its own mythos to Southern hip-hop lore.
21-year-old Dre Cruise is the latest artist from the Crescent City looking to put his name in lights with his introspective single "Reckless."
Produced by LA native Alex Mendoza, "Reckless" has a breezy, syrup-like trap vibe and features Chicago favourite Hona Costello. Over the moody beat Cruise opens up about being young and reckless and the consequences that come with that, especially when it comes to slipping up on his girl. Cruise has a solid flow as he drops lyrics about Kanye West, models and Rihanna, with one of the standout lines being, "What's Donald Trump to a Mexican?"
Cruise might be relatively unknown outside his hometown, but if he continues to put out music of this quality then it won't be long till he becomes a household name.
