Why do we like this?
Australia's I OH YOU have become music tastemakers over the last couple of years, signing and nurturing some of this county's biggest and brightest talents, including the likes of DZ Deathrays, Bleeding Knees Club, and Snakadaktal. Now you can add DMA's to that impressive list.
Signed by label head honco Johann Ponniah after he was sent a bedroom demo of the Newton trio by a friend, DMA's have quickly become the hottest band around, all without a single release!
Well, that has all changed with the release of their first track, the English-influenced garage grower "Delete." The three Sydney friends -- Johnny Took, Matt Mason and Tommy O -- have curated a feeling of nostalgic bliss with "Delete," full of gritty emotion and melodic goodness, with the calming acoustic guitar and emotive vocals that open the track slowly building towards an Oasis-esque finish of harmonies, percussion, and glorious reverb.
Considering these lads were unknown just a week ago, this is a tremendous first release, and definitely not the last we'll heard for the Newton three piece.
