Why do we like this?
Being based in the UK means I get a slightly different perspective on what's considered "big" to folks back in the states. Take moombahton, for example. From the sounds of Diplo's tweets, the genre is absolutely massive in the U.S., but pretty much ignored over here.
To be fair, the moombahton I've heard has singularly failed to blow my mind or move my feet, but there is an olive branch: the sub-genre of moombahsoul.
Again, Diplo's tweeting lead me to this, when he linked to a free moombahsoul album (which is basically soul in the moombahton style) -- the end result sounding like deep house with a slight tinge of Major Lazer.
The best track from the album is by DJ Theory, a San Francisco-based producer. Check out his track "Can't Get Enough," and head over to the Mad Decent blog to check out more!
