Introducing Montreal-based producer and multi-instrumentalist Dead Horse Beats. He's a one-man band who releases singles, remixes and mixes comprising the best elements of funk, electronica, and hip-hop.
Today's release is "Clouds," a smooth and layered electronic piece that merges toward hip-hop samples at the end of the track. I also can't get enough of the "Northmix" on his SoundCloud, a mixtape of tunes from Mount Kimbie, Freddie Gibbs (covering Soul of Mischief's "'93 to Infinity"), as well as his own originals.
He's produced a number of albums, and his last album, Stop, thief!, was influenced by a robbery of equipment by a close friend. But as karma does come around, that album went on to be in the top three selling albums on Bandcamp, three times in three months, and it sounds like he's only just getting started.
Check out his latest album release, Single People, which includes "Clouds," available for purchase on Bandcamp.
