It's always admirable seeing someone own their own presence and image completely. Living the life that they want to be living above the life that anyone else wants them to live. Daisy Victoria is that kind of person.
"Animal Lover" is power pop with the ethos and aggression of full-on punk. Daisy Victoria is wholly unafraid, it seems, of anything. She does not shy away from her female traits, she is in the end singing about a man, but at the same time the story of the song–about someone who performs loathsome experiments on animals–is distinctly unfeminine, something you might pull from a R.L. Stein book. Victoria, of course, sings about this with the same ferocity another female artist would sing about her own broken heart.
"Animal Lover" is the lead single off the Animal Lover EP, out now.
