Why do we like this?
Oh lordy lord, is this isn't the smoothest cover I've ever heard, I don't know what is.
Cyndi Lauper released True Colors about 26 years ago. The album ended up going double platinum in the US (2 million+ copies sold), etching a spot in history as one of the many successful 80s ballads.
Flash forward to today, and the manly half of the amazing Angus & Julia Stone has brought an entirely new vibe to the track. He's not the first to do so, of course. According to Wikipedia, the song has been tackled by by many other artists including Phil Collins, Natasha St. Pier, Anna Tsuchiya, Tanya Chua, Olivia Ong and Kasey Chambers.
Still, operating in the vacuum that is my life, I'll take this one any day over the original.
