Why do we like this?
Craft Spells have a new record coming out in June, entitled Nausea. The project of singer/songwriter Justin Paul Vallesteros, the band's nostalgic, reverbed-out guitars and pulsing beats have had my attention for some time now.
The band's sound is largely influenced by that early 80s new wave, except that they still have one foot firmly planted in the newer indie-rock scene. It's a combination that makes for some interesting music.
They just released this new single, "Breaking the Angel Against the Tide," and it features some fantastic instrumentation throughout. One of my favorite parts of the song comes in the guitar solo, where they bring in some additional strings that really make for a beautiful moment. Can't wait to hear more from this upcoming record.
