Why do we like this?
Let's be honest, France has always been pretty good to us when it comes to music. So it came as little surprise to find out that my latest obsession, Chateau Marmont, was in fact born and bred in Paris, France. It's also worthwhile to note that the Parisian trio are actually childhood friends, united by their love for synth-driven music.
2013 is looking to be a massive year for these guys, what with the release of their debut album Maze and now an EP follow-up for the single "Wind Blows" off said album. Here's the part where I make a Phoenix comparison -- but I truly do hate grouping all French indie pop/rock bands together on the basis of them being able to sing in English; not all French bands sound like Phoenix!
Let's just say that ultimately, it's the smooth production and warm pop melodies that impress here. A truly unique listening experience!
