Cathedrals had a big 2015. An EP released to much praise and a growing festival presence, the San Francisco-based duo has since been quietly working on their next release. In anticipation, they have dropped a fantastically beautiful cover of RY X and Frank Wiedemann's 2012 hit "Howling."
As with their other releases, the cover is perfectly arranged and executed with absolute precision. Singer Brodie Jenkins' deliciously rich vocals add a depth and maturity to the track, separating it from the original. As the track constantly builds, a quick respite lands just before the four minute mark culminating into a wall of layered vocals and complex instrumentals.
We at Indie Shuffle are very eagerly anticipating Cathedrals next release. This cover will have to tide us over for the meantime. Sigh.
