Why do we like this?
Based in Seattle, Erik Anderson, the artist known as Cataldo, released his latest full-length album, Gilded Oldies in 2014. It is his fourth LP since 2005, which leaves me wondering how so much great music has been left relatively undiscovered.
"In Now and Then" is a beautiful ride. It starts wonderfully mellow, but as the chorus hits, the saxophone picks up and the drums become heavier, the song becomes the best version of itself. It becomes uplifting, it hits deeper than the base layer and keeps this up until the end.
It's a great jam and an even better introduction to the style of music that Cataldo has been writing for over a decade.
