I'm a pretty avid Baths fan, and I've had the opportunity to catch a handful of his live shows over the past few years. Every time I've seen him, towards the end of his set he would play this song that was dark and brooding. It would start with a heavy, droning, two-and-half minute-long atmospheric intro, before Baths would cut in with this falsetto mantra that, best I could tell, was about burying bodies in his graveyard.
I have been infatuated with this song since the first time I heard it live sometime after the release of Cerulean, in 2010 . I have anticipated the release of the mystery song on every subsequent album or B-side that Baths has put out, but to no avail. As of yet, the song is still unreleased. I didn't even know what it was called.
However, in a fortuitous turn of events, Baths happened to record a Tiny Desk Concert recently for NPR where he performed a live version of the song, which I now know is called "Ocean Death," and which was ultimately uploaded online. And now here it is for you to enjoy.
