London-based artist Ronnie claims that the sounds of Astro Zu are influenced by his love of Flying Lotus, 60s psychedelia and 90s R&B. There's clearly a bit of all of that, but what's missing is a comparison to the trip-hop stylings of Thievery Corporation.
On "Zillion Dollar Uh," Astro Zu takes the listener to a trippy and futuristic place, channeling visions of far off planets and solar systems in a distant galaxy. It's lounge and future bass all at once -- an unlikely combination that ends up working quite marvelously together.
