Reinventing a classic and making it relevant to a new wave of listeners, Fête Records founder and producer Abhimanyu oozes class and nu disco leanings on "Ain't No One."
Sampling the classic vocals by Chaka Khan, Abhimanyu introduces 80s motown to a heavy 2-step and U.K. house inspired rhythm tied to a thumping bassline which grooves and growls. The real winner here, however, has to go to the overall atmosphere of the track: feeling aged, but not dated, there's a thickness present overall which gives the edit a satisfying feeling.
The influence of Kaytranada and others like him are clearly present in this track and that, in many ways, increases the feeling of it being a love letter to the young producer's many heroes in music. Resonant on its own legs and running with the legacy of the scene that came before him, Abhimanyu makes the right choices and does it respectfully curating an individual sound that's fun, flirty, and 100% groovy.
